Newport, Oregon

Easy Travel Day

The drive to our this stop on our trip was only about an hour and a half. We drove up Highway 101, so it took a little longer with the trailer than would normally take to drive that distance.

Our RV Park, Whaler’s Rest (Click HERE for details,) for the Newport area is actually in South Beach. The South Beach area is about 6 miles south of Newport.

After we got set up in the RV park, we drove into Newport for a few grocery items and to stop by the Old Bay Front for a lookaround.

When we returned to the RV park, we went for a walk on the beach and did some laundry.

The Newport Area

Newport is always a fun area. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and Liz has some great memories of vacationing when her kids were younger. The central coast area from Cape Perpetua to Lincoln City has some incredible coastline to explore and it just never feels repetitive. Newport is the hub of the central Oregon coast and from South Beach to Yaquina Head can keep a person easily occupied for a week, and the close proximity to the areas immediately to the north and south kept us busy while during our first week here.
