Boston Trip ~ Day 12

Exploring Connecticut

Kevin took my on a day trip to the Connecticut coastal area today. We started out to see the USS Nautilus at the Naval Submarine Base New London in Groton, CT. Unfortunately, as we have found in many attractions during this trip, the Nautilus was not open. We did look around the museum a bit, the drove to Hammonasset Beach and took a walk along the water.

After a nice walk on the beach, Kevin took me to Mystic where we visited the where we explored some early whaling vessels and walked around the seaport village.

We then drove through the town of Mystic, which is a nice little sea town on the East Coast. We discussed the route back to Kevin’s house and decided to take an alternate route through rural Connecticut so I could see more of Connecticut and get a better feel for the area. We drove through the town where Kevin had lived when he initially moved to Connecticut.

It was a fun day and I had some time to catch up with Kevin and get a glimpse of what his life is like in Connecticut.
