Mojave Desert

Day 21 ~ Travel Day The drive was faIrly easy after we got away from San Diego. At Barstow, we followed Route 66 to the Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Center were the offer Harvest Hosts stays. We had time for to walk around the grounds a bit after getting set up. There are a lot of artifacts and memorabilia from the Mojave Desert and Route 66. There is a lot of history here, including the old schoolhouse museum that we got to see briefly before it closed at 4:00. Unfortunately, the museum is not open on Mondays to see it tomorrow before we move on.

Day 22 ~ Quiet Day Today we explored the grounds at the Harvest Host some more in the morning. We came across a phone booth that supposedly you are supposed to be able to pair your phone to and make cals from it. It is an actual phone booth that was in the Mojave Desert previously. Not sure what else to way about that. After wandering around the compound we just hid out in the trailer to escape the ridiculous heat and prepared to travel to our next destination, Zion National Park.

After leaving Sn Diego, we headed to Zion National Park. It is a longer drive than we wanted to do in one day so we stopped at a Harvest Host in the Mojave Desert, The Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Center. It was an “interesting” stop where we spent two nights.

Fortunately, they had water and electric there, not sure we would have survived without A/C.
